Nothing is as it seems
In 1942 Casablanca during WWII, Max Vatan (Brad Pitt), a French-Canadian intelligence officer, meets French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Marion Cotillard), on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. They fall in love during their mission to kill a German official, and are later reunited in London. However, their relationship is threatened by the pressures of war, especially when Max begins to wonder if Marianne may be a Nazi spy.
"A high-style romantic espionage thriller that feels like it could have been made in the ’40s." ~ Variety
"A grandly entertaining stab at old-fashioned storytelling (albeit with levels of sex, violence and profanity that they could never have gotten away with back in the day) buoyed by smart and stylish filmmaking, a good performance by Brad Pitt and an even better one from Marion Cotillard." ~ Roger Ebert
